A St. Clair County man is accused of crossing the center line and causing a crash while driving in New Athens.
William J. Welmon filed a lawsuit April 18 against James E. Canning in St. Clair County Circuit Court.
Welmon says he was driving a Dodge Dakota north on Illinois Route 13 in January 2012. As he neared the south side of the Five Forks Road intersection Welmon claims Canning, driving south on Route 13, crossed into the northbound lane and crashed into him.
Welmon is suing Canning for negligence and asks for more than $50,000 in damages for medical bills and court costs.
He is represented by attorney Jeffrey S. Hammel of Belleville.
